A Bauchi-based political pressure group, Democratic Enlightenment Initiative (DEI) has observed that former Jigawa state governor,Sule Lamido remains the only presidential aspirant in the North in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2019 general elections.
The chairman of DEI Aliyu Ibrahim, noted that former governor Lamido will have an easy sail in his 2019 presidential aspiration.
“Where are the presidential aspirants in the PDP up North in the build-up to 2019 elections? With the exception of Sule Lamido, all other foreseeable aspirants are nothing to write home about, in fact if any they were just toothless bulldogs”, he said.
Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, who stated this in Bauchi during a chat with journalist adjudged the Makarfi leadership of the PDP as the most appropriate, threw the Initiative’s weight behind the presidential ambition of Sule Lamido, saying that Lamido will bring Nigeria out of the woods.
Ibrahim stressed the need for all well-meaning members and supporters of the PDP across the length and breadth of the country to rally round the presidential aspiration of Sule Lamido.
He expressed the view that if Lamido eventually assumes the mantle of leadership ,he will economically, socially and politically take Nigeria to unprecedented heights.
The DEI chairman, also called on former president Olusegun Obasanjo to return back home into the fold of the PDP, now that his most favourite son,Lamido is canvassing for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of 2019 elections.
