A group on the platform of Sharing Passion Nigeria Initiative (SPNI) has said the late Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi, stood for the independence of the Judiciary.

In a condolence message signed by the president and public relations officer, Oluwatoyin Aladagbemi and Micheal Adebame respectively, and made available to LEADERSHIP Friday said the late Justice stood for respect for the Rule of Law and commitment to an egalitarian Nigerian

In their text, Late Justice Kutigi was CJN between January, 2007-December, 2009. He was a symbol of focus, discipline, and orderliness and due diligence.

He stood for the independence of the Judiciary, respect for the Rule of Law and commitment to an egalitarian Nigerian

The statement urged that, “His passing should serve as a call to the Bar and Bench to imbibe the astute legacies of judicial heroes past by engaging in legal conduct that ensures timely justice, protection of guaranteed fundamental rights and the attainment of a duly constituted social order that seeks the protection of children, the aged, the handicapped and women.”

The statement further said it joined millions across the world to commiserate with the family of late CJN, Idris Kutigi and the Nigerian Judiciary on the passing of the ICON.
