The management of LEADERSHIP Group Limited, publishers of LEADERSHIP titles, has announced new appointments in the organisation.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of LEADERSHIP Group, Mr Sam Nda-Isaiah.
According to the new appointments, Muazu Elazeh, who was the Editor of LEADERSHIP is now the Managing Director while Mrs Raliat Ahmed-Yusuf takes over as the new Editor. Until her appointment, Ahmed-Yusuf was the Deputy Editor.
Among the changes is the promotion of Mr Silas Ezeugwu to the position of Editorial Director. He was until the appointment, the newspaper’s General Editor.
Other appointments are those of Mr Rasheed Yusuf, Geoffrey Essien and Agbo Paul Augustine as Executive Director Operations, Executive Director Internal Control and Advert Director respectively. Elazeh attended the University of Jos and Bayero University Kano.
He began his journalism career with the now rested Nigerian Newsday Newspaper as Reporter II and rose to the position of Senior Reporter before joining Peoples Media Limited in October 2009 and served as Katsina State Correspondent. He later joined the services of LEADERSHIP Newspaper in August 2011 and was the Katsina Bureau Chief before his appointment as Sunday Editor in 2016.
He became the Editor of LEADERSHIP in March 2017, a position he held until his eventual elevation to the position of Managing Director. Elazeh is a member of the Editorial Board of LEADERSHIP.
On her part, Raliat Ahmed Yusuf, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, joined the services of LEADERSHIP Newspaper in 2006 as a Proof Reader and later served as Foreign News Editor, Foreign Editor, Research and Development Editor, Online Editor, Deputy Editor, Weekend, Friday Editor, Weekend Editor, Sunday Editor, and Deputy Editor, LEADERSHIP.
She has attended training courses in Journalism sponsored by the Union of African Journalists, Cairo, Egypt and Mentorship for Journalists at ICIR, sponsored by Ford Foundation.
The new Editorial Director, Silas Ezeugwu, is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. A former educationist, Mr Ezeugwu started his journalism profession at Media Trust Ltd in 2006 as a senior proof reader. He joined LEADERSHIP Newspaper in 2008 as chief subeditor.
He was Deputy Editor from 2011-2014, Managing Editor (Standards) from 2015, and General Editor from 2016. He was elevated to directorate cadre earlier this year, first as Standards Director in March 2019 and Editorial Director in charge of the Weekly Titles a month later in April.
His latest appointment as Editorial Director, LEADERSHIP Group, saddles him with the task of supervising all the titles in the stable. Ezeugwu is currently the Deputy Chairman of LEADERSHIP Editorial Board.
Mr Rasheed Yusuf joined LEADERSHIP as Chief Marketing Officer in March 2019. An aggressive and versatile marketer, Yusuf was a Lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Katsina, before joining Media Trust Limited as online Reporter/Researcher.
He served at various times as the Head of Planning/Distribution and Head, Marketing and Sales, Southern Operations of Media Trust.
An author of Foundation of Business Studies, Yusuf attended the University of Jos and University of Abuja.
On his part, Geoffrey Essien came from the banking sector with over a decade experience in commercial banking. An alumnus of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Essien joined LEADERSHIP on December 4, 2017 as Director, Adverts.
In March 2018, he was elevated to the position of Group Executive Director (GED) overseeing the Advert Department. He also served as Group Executive Director Human Resources.
Meanwhile, Miss Victoria Omuya Usman has been confirmed as the substantive Editor of LEADERSHIP Friday. Usman was appointed Acting Editor of LEADERSHIP Friday in December 2018.
She joined the services of LEADERSHIP Newspaper Group in 2010 as a proof reader. Usman served at various times as Assistant Editor (Special Publications), Deputy Editor Weeklies/Editor Special Publications and Deputy Editor of LEADERSHIP Weekend before her appointment as Acting Editor of LEADERSHIP Friday.
Usman is a member of LEADERSHIP Editorial Board.
