The Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has deepened its relationship with the LEADERSHIP Media Group Limited with the inauguration of a publicity committee to promote Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).
The permanent secretary in the ministry, Sunday Edet Akpan, while inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Wednesday at the ministry, said the objective was to work out modalities that would mutually benefit both parties.
Akpan expressed appreciation on the work LEADERSHIP newspapers has been doing on the coverage of the ministry’s activities, saying, “There is need to consolidate on the sound relationship”. He noted that a new name had been given to the ministry, which gives it more responsibilities and expanded mandate that would reposition it towards improved innovation, Research and development.
The permanent secretary further said the committee’s terms of reference include; publishing of the ministry’s activities on a weekly basis in Leadership newspapers and all its media arms; working out modalities that would mutually benefit the ministry and Leadership, among others.
He expressed optimism that the committee would work hard to fulfil its given mandate.
The committee is chaired by Jubrilla Modu, the director of planning, research and policy analysis in the ministry. He is joined by others from the ministry which include; director ICT, Mr Idowu Afe; director special duties, Mr Lawrence Welebe and the head of press and public relations, Josephine Ademu.
On the Side of Leadership, the committee members include; the group managing director, Muazu Elezah; director of adverts, Fadilah Saliu Ismail; head of stories, Bayo Amodu; Innocent Odoh and Elizabeth Rindap.
Speaking on behalf of the committee’s chairperson, the director of information communication technology (ICT) of the ministry, Mr. Idowu Afe, said the committee’s formation came at the right time and would reposition the ministry in a positive light.
