Nasarawa State Football Association chairmanship aspirant, Haliru Ibrahim, has alleged that there are moves by some elements to deny him the opportunity to vie for the chairmanship position of the state FA.
Ibrahim, who has worked tirelessly for the Nasarawa State FA since 1996 when the state was created, has vowed to take the case to any level if he is prevented from the contest the election.
“I have been around the FA for so many years and I believe I am more than qualified to vie for the chairmanship position. Nobody can deny me the opportunity.
“I have no grudge against anybody and I believe there should be fair playing ground for everybody to contest. Nobody should think they have the powers to stop others to run football in the state.”
“We have done all the necessary things that we needed to do and in the last minutes we were told that we have been disqualified that we can’t contest for the elective position in the state FA.”
The former match Commissioner accused the incumbent chairman, Mohammed Alkali, who is seeking reelection of manipulating the electoral process in his favour.
“The incumbent Chairman Mohammed Alkali has manipulated everything to his favour and it’s not just right that the Nigeria Football Federation is silence on the matter after series of petitions to them,” Ibrahim lamented.
In his reaction, incumbent chairman, Mohammed Alkali debunked the allegation of denying Haliru Ibrahim to contest State FA chairmanship election.
“I am also a candidate like him and I don’t have any power to deny or disqualify any candidate. We all bought forms and submitted to the electoral committee, so let allow them to do their job without interference,” he said.
All efforts to reach the chairman electoral committee on phone proved abortive by the time of filing this reports.
