As part of activities slated to mark the 50th birthday of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, eminent Nigerians on Sunday attended a novelty football match competition organised in his honour.
Some of the personalities who attended the event include President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambueal, President Dangote group Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, clerk of the National Assembly, Sani Omolori, senior speacial assistant to the President on National Assembly matterd, Kawu Sumaila.
The football match featured National Assembly tea playing against the Private Sector team which ended 3-1 in favour of the private sector, the match between Senate versus House of Representatives.ended 1-1 in favour of the Housre, while serving versus Former principal officers.ended 1- 0.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Sen. Tanimu Aduda, said the proceeds from the event will be used to cater for the needy, less privileged, orphanages and internally displaced persons.
Chairman of the occasion, Aliko Dangotr, thanked the Speaker for chosing to identifying with the internally Displaced persons ( IDPs), on his birthday.
He appealed to the welthy in the society to donate generously in order to support and improve the walfare of the IDPs.
On his part, the Senate President Bukola Saraki, expressed his hapiness for the event and called for the corporation of the private sector by donating generously to the IDPs.
The celebrant Yakubu Dogara, said he is deeply touched by the commitment exibited by the invited guess, and assured that all commitment will be devoted to charity for the IDPs.
