The Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Abdullahi Muhammadu, has urged the Federal Government to make available funds and modern equipment for the corps to enable them tackle insecurity in the country.
The Corps Commandant- General made the appeal in Akure, the Ondo state capital, during the inauguration of the building projects on the Command of the NSCDC in the state.
Muhammadu said, ” I wish to particularly appreciate the His Excellency, for his tremendous supports and assistance to the corps and for providing enabling environment to enhance operational efficiency.
” However, I will appeal for further assistance, especially in the area of capacity building and manpower development as well as provision of logistics and modern equipment to further enhance our capacity to effectively deliver our mandate and tackle the present security challenges confronting us as a nation. “
The Commandant -General, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Commandant-General, Mr. Kelechi Madu, commended the people of Ondo State for supporting the command to enable it made some achievements in the state.
Addressing the gathering earlier, the state commandant of the corps, Mr. Adeyinka Ayinla ,said the building project was funded by the people and corporates bodies in the state.
Adeyinka noted that the development was an indication of good partnership between the people of the state and the NSCDC command.
The state Commandant, however, declared that the command would not relent in its fight against criminality in the state.
The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, (SAN), commended the security agencies in the state for their efforts in protecting lives and properties of the people of the state.
Akeredolu, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Sunday Abegunde, expressed the readiness of his administration to partner the security agencies to be able to flush out crime and criminality in the state.
