No fewer than 30 shops with goods worth millions of naira have bee razed by fire at popular Akande Market in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
It was learnt that the incident which started around 7 pm affected virtually all the shops occupied by the traders.
A victim whose shop was involved told our reporter on phone that the state fire fighters were not around to put out the fire.
According to him, several calls put across to the fire fighters were not picked.
“Immediately the incident started, calls were put through to them but there was no positive response base on logistics.
”If they had come earlier, the damages would not be this much because the fire would not spread to where it gets to but you know its harmattan period, things are dry and inflammable,” the victim said.
The cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Several sympathizers were still at the scene of the inferno lamenting and pleading with government to bail out the traders.
