The PDP zonal chairman, Niger North Senatorial District (Zone C), Alhaji Yahaya Ability  has said that the governorship zoning arrangement put in place by the party remained intact and unshakable .

He stated in an interview at the weekend that  Niger North (Zone C) would therefore  produce a gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 election of the PDP.

According to him,  the system was adopted in PDP to ensure, justice, fairness and peaceful coexistence of the people in the  state where every part will have a stake in the political affairs of Niger state.

The party stalwart hinted  that anybody seeking to contest  from other zones, especially zone A should  be looking for deputy governorship slot, saying though PDP introduced the arrangement for fairness   the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State also keyed into it.

He therefore urged other political parties in the state to maintain the zoning agreement for peace and stability in polity as well as for the victory of the party in all elections, noting that any aspirant from other zone rather than Zone C will not be good for the state.

Ability explained that, “Niger South benefited 8 years under the late Engr Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure and  shifted to Niger East who also benefited under Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu. Now it is the  turn of Niger North and PDP lost the election by Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko but the party will still sustain the zoning arrangement,” he stated.

The declaration may not be unconnected with the names of aspirants from Niger South referred to as Zone A seeking for the ticket of the party ahead of 2019 governorship election. Just recently, Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Baka from Niger south declared for the governorship ticket.
