Young Nigerians seeking to become entrepreneurs have been advised to get over procrastination and take bold steps to actualise their dream. The advice was given recently by one of Nigeria’s youthful entrepreneurs, Ejiobi Charles Chibuike, popularly known as Obaego.
Speaking, he said: “There is no business that is beyond a young person. When I set out to become an entrepreneur, I did not limit myself to the kind of business I would do or the number of business entities I would run.”
He continued: “So presently, I am managing director and CEO of three different companies, namely Teczo Real Estate, Teczo Autos and Teczo Forex Bureau.”
Obaego also advised aspiring entrepreneurs not to allow themselves to be dissuaded by the discouraging stories they hear about the Nigerian business environment being very difficult. Said he: “I will not disagree that the Nigerian business environment is tough and highly competitive, but in my opinion, an entrepreneur is expected to be able to surmount any obstacle; and to do that, you must be innovative, you must develop business ideas that survive the odds and maximise the opportunities in your economic environment. Moreso, you must be able to come up with business ideas that differ from that of your competitors.”
He added: “My advice for all young entrepreneurs is this: do not be concerned unduly about being successful; rather, lean towards hard work because your sweat will never fail you.”
Obaego also counselled those wishing to venture into business to take a cue from his exploits. “Many people still find it difficult to believe when I told them that I started business this 2019, like just a few months ago. What would have happened, if I were still toying around with my business ideas without taking a definite step? So, don’t just dream about business ideas, actualise your entrepreneurial ideas,” he said.
