The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) has commended Kaduna state governor’s commitment to ending maternal and child death in the State.
The Kaduna State Team Leader of NURHI, Mallam Kabir M. Abdullahi made this commendation during a two days training workshop for media practitioner in kaduna, Spitfire Advocacy Training For Family Planning, organized by Devcoms in conjunction with NURHI.
According to him the Kaduna state Governor Malam Nasir El- Rufai need to be commended for given the Maternal Health Care the necessary priority it requires.
“We should not fail to always commend the state governor for the N100m budgeted to Maternal health care.
“When we first met with the governor and presented a three years plan on Maternal health care of the state, and he asked how much will be needed for the three years plan, we told him N600m and he immediately approved N100m”, said Abdullahi.
He also advised the state government to make money available for monitoring the activities of the family planning in the state.
Some of the challenges he said, need for budget line at the SPHCDA to cover trainings, supervision,CLMS and consumables by the state government”.
“Persistent stock out of family planning commodities in the state, LGA stores in facilities and hidden charges”
“Logistic challenges by LGA in commodity collection and distribution”
“Staff Attrition, provider attitude and security challenges, example, like in southern kaduna last year we lost one of our vehicle, our staff injured”
“The environment where we function are off terrin but we must provide these facilities to our women” he added.
