The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has accused the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, of having no regard for the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo.
This is as about 150 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ubima community in Ikwerre local government area, the hometown of Amaechi, yesterday dumped the party for the PDP.
Publicity Secretary of PDP in the state, who spoke while receiving the decampees at Primary School Field, Ubima yesterday, alleged that the minister exhibited his lack of respect for Osibanjo during his last visit to the state.
Nwanosike said, “Few days ago, we were at the airport to receive the President of Ngeria, Acting President Yemi Osibanjo. When he came in somebody who is a minister had the guts to disrespect the President of Nigeria. He shunned traditional rulers and ran into a chopper that was waiting for the Acting President.
“As if that was not enough, after the commissioning at Indorama and the Acting President said, gentlemen, follow me to Etche to commission Chokocho Road and the other road beside Chokocho.
“It will shock you that Senator Magnus Abe, who is an APC senator followed the Acting President and the Governor of Rivers State to that commissioning ceremony, but this Minister broke protocol again and abandoned his boss, the President of Nigeria and did not follow him to that commissioning.”
In his speech at the occasion, leader of PDP in Ubima community, Chief Nna Wodu, said contrary to rumours making the rounds, no member of thearty n the community have defected to the APC.
Wodu said, No member of the PDP in Ubima community has defected to the APC. The rumour is a fabrication by the APC. We thank God for the PDP in Ubima. We are here to let our people know that Ubima community is still PDP. We are assuring APC members who have decamped to the PDP they they will be empowered very soon.”
