The minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu, on Wednesday reaffirmed the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari towards achieving the sustainable Development Goals, (SDGs).
To achieved this set goals, Adamu disclosed that ministry has developed a medium term education action palbs tagged ‘ Ministerial Strategic Plans (MSP) for effective implementation of National Policy on Education .
Represented by Mrs Olubola Adedigba at the Skill Exhibition and Roundtable Discussion on Assessment of Skill organized by the National Business and Technical Examination Board, NABTEB in Benin City, Edo State.
While noting the importance of technical education cannot be over emphasized said qualified instructors remains a daunting challenge.
” TVET remains the bedrock for sustainable technological and socio-economic development of any nation. However, the negative public perception of technical and vocational education, dearth of qualified and competent instructors due to lack of training materials and I’ll equipped workshop remain serious challenge to promotion of Skill acquisition for manpower development”.
On her part, the Registrar /Chief Executive of NABTEB, Professor Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanire said one of the main objectives of the round table is to bring together stakeholders and collaborators I’m training and assessment of Skill for the purpose of knowledge sharing on best practice in Skill assessmet.
” NABTEB is determined to create a critical mass of trained assessors and verifiers to accommodate increasing demand for this qualification”. She assured.
