President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Sokoto assured Nigerians that he will never steal from their collective patrimony and will therefore not allow anybody to steal the future of the country.

Buhari who spoke at the Giginya Stadium, venue of his re-election campaign flag off, added that, Nigerians will attest to the fact that, his government has done very well.

According to him, while campaigning for votes in 2015, his emphasis were on insecurity, economy and fight against corruption, adding therefore that, his government has done well in the three points.

“When I came to Sokoto in 2015, to look for your support, I made 3 promises. These promises are security, fight against corruption and repositioning the economy.

“By the grace of Allah, you are our witnesses today.  We are doing our best. Ask the people of Maiduguri today, we have defeated Boko Haram. Our economy has improved with God on our side. Our farmers are happy about the economy. We provided fertilizers at subsidized rates to all our farmers and they got it. We pray that God should help us do more this year.”

Talking about his successes so far in the fight against corruption, President Buhari noted that a lot has been achieved, adding that, his government remained committed to the fight against corruption.

“In the fight against corruption, our government is trying its best. And we will continue to fight against corruption. If we find anybody that have accumulated ill-gotten wealth, we will punish such a person. My promise to Nigerians is that, I will not steal and will not allow others steal their future”. Buhari assured.

Speaking earlier, APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole said his party is not in any way ready to rig the forthcoming general elections contrary to the false alarm continually being raised by the opposition PDP.

Oshiomole who insisted that PDP is jittery about the forthcoming general elections because this is the first time they will be going for an election without the machinery of rigging, added that, the APC believes in free, fair and credible election.

“The oppositions have seen that from Akwa Ibom to Delta to Bauchi, Lagos and here, that Nigerians have resolved to return the man of honour. They have resolved to once again vote for the man of integrity who had an unquestionable pedigree.

“This is why they gather to say we want to right the forthcoming general elections. From the ward level down to the presidency, APC is going to win. APC believes in one man, one vote,  one  woman, one vote which will bring back Muhammadu Buhari as the duly re-elected president of Nigeria come February 16 this year.

“And let me assure Nigerians that PMB will continue to be a threat to all the thieves,” Oshiomole noted.
