The Adamawa State Police command said it has arrested 22 suspects including a female in connection with robbery and other related crimes across the state within the last three weeks.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Yola at the weekend, the new commissioner of Police in the state, Moses Jitoboh, said the suspects were arrested for armed robbery, theft, rape, criminal conspiracy and other forms of criminality at various locations.
He said two Toyota Camry vehicles, one starlet, N450,000 of fake N1000 currency notes purchased at the cost of N200,000 genuine notes, laptops, among others were recovered from the suspects.
Jitoboh also explained that among those arrested is a 30-year old Aliyu Muhammed of Kilbajo ward, in Wurro Jabbe, in Jimeta, for rapping an eight year old girl while the victim’s parent is away.
Within the period under review, the command arrested Ayinna Afraimu (32), for murdering a pregnant woman after accusing her of witchcraft and responsible for death and sickness of persons in Falu village of Guyuk local government area of the state.
The police boss also said that necessary mechanism to checkmate indiscipline among the rank and file of the command have been put in place by the authorities to enhance professionalism.
He solicited for cooperation and partnership from the public to curtail incidences of crime in the state.
