Men of the Criminal Investigation Department, (CID) of the Edo State Police command has launched a man hunt for 5 fleeting alleged homosexuals among whom are Mr. Osa Eribo, a leader of the All Progressive Congress APC. Kelvin Osadiaye, Iyokowa and others who are at large
Mr. Eribo, was said to have escaped from the he organised gay party he organized at a private guest house in the Government Reservation Area of the City in May 2017.
Our investigation revealed that security agents had acted on a tip off and subsequently stormed the venue where two of the gay men were arrested for frolicking among one another.
Information had it that the two men arrested had informed the police that the party was organised by Mr. Eribo and they also gave the police the names of their homosexual friends who fled arrest.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had in 2014 signed a legislation outlawing homosexuality and imposing prison terms of up to 14 years for people prosecuted under the act.
The law signed by the then President had made it illegal for gay people to even hold a meeting. The Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act also criminalizes homosexual clubs, associations and organizations, with penalties of up to 14 years in jail.
The act has drawn international condemnation from countries such as the United States and Britain.
Some Nigerian gays already have fled the country because of intolerance of their sexual persuasion, and more are considering leaving.
