The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques to the families of deceased officers who died in active service.
Presenting the cheques to the families of the deceased officers at the Kebbi State Police Command in Birnin Kebbi, commissioner of police in the state, Ibrahim Kabiru, said the gesture was from the Inspector General of Police Welfare Scheme and the Group Life Assurance Claim.
According to him, a total of #7,380,272,00 was released to six family members of the deceased police officers to cushion their hardship and take care of their families.
“Today’s event is an assurance to the next of kin of the deceased officers that the force will always take care of her own. That even in death, we cherish and respect the supreme sacrifices those officers made to the command in particular and the nation at large,’’ he said.
The beneficiaries included Hadiza Ibrahim, received for Inspector Ibrahim Adamu; Saidu Mohammed received for Sergeant Mohammed Buhari; Bello Arabic received for PC Mohammed Bello; Ibrahim Sanusi received for civilian staff, Sanusi Muhammad; Yabaji Ahmed received for ASP Jiya Salihu and Benjamin Yakubu received for Inspector Yakubu Aura.
The commissioner of police also used the occasion to warn politicians, contestants, party supporters and stakeholders in the political process to desist from hate speeches.
He warned that the force would not condone indecent and criminal defamatory of conduct from any individual or group that can cause threat to public peace.
