The Nigeria Police Force today disclosed that the Gombe state house of Assembly mace forcefully taken away by the All Progressive Congress (APC) minority members of the House during plenary on Thursday has been recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, Gombe state Command Mr Tairu Shina Olukolu, said the mace was found by men of his command behind the National Industrial Court complex in Gombe town where it was abandoned.
The CP also disclosed that the vehicle use to whisked away the mace from the Assembly complex was also recovered.
The police commissioner who disclosed this to Journalists on Friday, shortly after handing over the mace to the speaker of the state Assembly, Nasiru Abubakar Nono warned politicians to desist from criminal acts that will unnecessary heat up the system in the name of politics.
As according to him the rule of law is no respecter of any person, stressing that the law will always take its course.
Olukolu who said the police are yet to make any arrest said that investigation is still ongoing.
