The special adviser on Political Matters to Governor Nasir El-Rufai and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kaduna Central senatorial seat in 2019 polls, Malam Uba Sani, has tasked clerics to continue preaching peace and unity to followers, saying it shall be well with the state.
Speaking when a delegation of pastors from various church denominations visited him in Kaduna, Sani said that with the commitment of the current state government under governor Nasir el-Rufai to security and personal safety, the state would certainly be returned to the path of enduring peace.
The delegation, led by Rev Danjuma Mazadu and some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria stressed on the need for peaceful elections and good governance in Kaduna State.
Sani noted that the entire human civilisation is based on co-existence of faiths, which means equal respect for the whole of humanity.
He said religions teach peace and love for mankind, and clerics should combat all forms of preaching, which incite hatred:
“We should promote unity in families first, which would lead us to a united society. And we should also believe in our young people. If we need a strong society, we have to first make our youth strong by inculcating values of right speech, thinking and action,” Sani said.
Meanwhile, Uba Sani, while addressing thousands of Muslims of the Tijjaniyya Tariqah sect at the Murtala Square during this year’s annual Maulud celebration on behalf of governor El-Rufai, who was away on a state visit abroad, reiterated the message of peace.
Sani urged the Ulamah to stress the doctrine of peace and harmony to their followers as expounded by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
