The National Messengers of Peace NMP, the organizers of the Queens of Peace pageant have said the winners will be saddled with the responsibility of promoting peace within and outside Nigeria.
The non-governmental organization in a briefing with the media said its novel approach to fighting violence and promoting peace and unity will be achieved via organizing of local and international volunteering projects.
According to the national president of the foundation, Samuel Adejoh, eight out of the 36 contestants from different states of the country will be selected, out of which the lead queen will be crowned Queen of Peace International, and six others crowned queens of the six geo-political zones of the country.
The Queen of Peace International responsibilities include liaising with Nigerians in Diaspora, while the queens of the geopolitical zones will preach peace in the aforementioned zones.
In preparation for their peace ambassador roles, the ladies were trained by the Police and lawyers at the American Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution following a two-week camping.
“There will be no progress in the nation without peace. The queens have been selected based on their pedigree, humility, intellect among others. We are unleashing the best brains for the 2021 national messengers of peace queens,” Adejoh.
