Residents of Gombi have commended Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s efforts in facilitating the establishment of military base in Gombi LGA in Adamawa state.
Engr Dimas Shekeil, the council chairman said the Air Force base when operational would improve the security of the areas and the fight against insurgency.
Shekiel at the foundation laying ceremony of the construction of 60-bed new cottage hospital, Thursday, pleaded for more support to improve health service delivery in the council.
Governor Fintiri explained that the hospital project was long overdue, as the people of the area only access secondary healthcare services at Garkida general hospital, 37 kilometers away.
He lamented over successive administration’s inability to construct hospital to meet the healthcare demands of the people.
“Present administration has changed the negative narrative of healthcare system in the state”, adding that primary healthcare centres have also been equipped to address emerging health challenges.
He enumerated other strides of government to include establishing Infectious Disease Treatment Centre in the state as well as purchase and distribution of medical equipment and consumables to three levels of healthcare delivery.
The Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Professor Abdullahi Isa, said the hospital has all the clinical departments and urged the people to support the contractors.
