The Rotary Club of Abuja has donated educational materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in New Kuchingoro Camp.
The Rotary Club President and Ambassador, Roy-Stanley Nwafor said the donation was to bring succor to the less privileged (IDPs) who could not have access to computer and internet to attain zoom classes. “Because of Covid-19, a lot of children have not gone to school and as much as the little kids with privileged background have, the IDP do not have, hence the need to render useful assistance to enhance their educational capacity development’ He said.
Nwafor said “knowing that these kids who are internally displaced do not have funds or support from anywhere, we as Rotary try to support them by donating books, bags, benches, stationeries, water bottles and writing materials to support the education of the displaced children to offer them opportunity for basic education”.
Presenting the items on behalf of the club, Ikechi Ifebunandu, President of Rotary Club Capital commended the donors, individuals and partners for acting timely at ensuring the education of the IDP children, adding that they have judiciously done exactly what they have been mandated to do and encouraged them to continue to support us as this is not one time project.
She urged the federal government to continue to do the new normal and as Rotary Club, they will do their own best to also assist the little way they can to improve selfless service to humanity.
