The Rotary Club of Abuja, the Ambassadors in conjunction with Rotary Club of Abuja Capital and Mediation Peace Vocational Training Initiatives (MPVTI) has donated educational materials to the Internally displaced persons (IDP) in New Kuchingoro Camp.
The President Rotary Club of Abuja the Ambassadors, President Roy-stanley Nwafor said that everyone has the right to education including the IDPs, so as rotarians, we are known for given helping hands to the world, we are moved to help these little children irrespective of their background, race, religion, sex or ethnic groups because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
Nwafor said, “Knowing that these kids who are internally displaced do not have enough funds or support from anywhere, we as rotary clubs decided to support them by donating books, bags, benches, stationeries, water bottles, and writing materials to support the education of the displaced children to offer them opportunity for basic education”. With time we will also initiate E-Learning and re-emergence of classroom training via e-learning amidst Covid-19.
In the same vain, Ikechi Ifebunandu, President, Rotary Club of Abuja Capital said the essence of the donation was to bring succour to the less privileged (IDPs) who could not have access to computer, internet to attain zoom classes “because of Covid-19 a lot of children have not gone to school and as much as the little kids with privileged background have, the IDP do not have, hence the need to render useful assistance to enhance their educational capacity development, and as a club we deem it fit to assist the IDPs by providing them with benches, tables and other educational materials to aid their learning.
Also, Founder Mediation, Peace and Vocational Training Initiatives Amb. Mrs Clementina Okolo commended Donors, Individuals, and partners for acting timely at ensuring the education of the IDP children, adding that they have judiciously do exactly what they have been mandated to do and encouraged them to continue to support them as this is not a one time project.
We urged federal government to continue to do the new normal and as Rotary Club, they will do their own best to also assist the little way they can to improve selfless service to humanity.
