The Senate has announced it’s commencement of seven week recess and adjourned sitting till 19th September, 2017.
The Senators are expected to proceed to their various constituencies to interact with their constituents of varied issues of national interest. But it is also expected that many lawmakers, as usual, instead of heading to their senatorial districts, would set out on luxurious and pleasurable vacation to abroad.
Among many national issues bugging the people, the threat to unity and insecurity, as well as hunger, poverty and general economic hardship are greatest challenges facing the people.
The Senate had resolved that Distinguished Senators should quickly intensify their representative role and embark on sensitization campaign in their various constituencies to highlight the importance of harmonious and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
It is however, expected that the just embarked recess would aver lawmakers the opportunity to exercise the mandated constitutional duty.
Senate President Bukola Saraka has maintained that the 8th National Assembly will continue to discharge its legislative duties as promised and ensure the fight against corruption to make country’s economy viable.
