South South: Rivers Police Parades Suspected Killers Of PDP Chairman, Others

The Rivers State Police Command has paraded five suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 16,Ogbogoro Community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers, Heaven Ogogbo Ihuigwe.
The suspects, Ifeanyi Okoro, Ajade Niyi, Austin Isotect, and Chief Joseph Iwuoku and Clement Yusuf were arrested by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit.
Late Ihuigwe was murdered in Septmember 2017, at Rumuekini community, also in Obio/Akpor local government area and his body dumped in a cassava farm in the community.
Briefing newsmen yesterday, shortly before parading the suspects at the Police headquarters, Port Harcourt, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Cyril Okoro, said men of the IGP monitoring unit, led by Benneth Igwe, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) arrested the suspects through a tip-off.
Okoro said, “On the 16/9/2017, at about 1945hrs, the people of Ogbogoro were greeted with the sad news of the murder of their son, Heaven Ogbogbo Ihuigwe, the PDP Ward Chairman of Ogbogoro Community in Obio/Akpor LGA.
“Following a tip-off, men of the IGP Monitoring Unit arrested one Ifeanyi Okoro 25yrs residing at Omagwa Community in Ikwerre LGA. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have been involved in the murder of the late Honourable.
“His confession led to the arrest of three others namely: Ajade Niyi, Austin Isotec and Chief Joseph Iwuoku aka Uduakonmiri whose confession led to the arrest of the 4th suspect, Clement Yusuf with one Yaye still at large.”
The deputy commissioner of Police, also disclosed that, one black Toyota Highlander, the deceased Gionee M5 phone and original land documents were recovered from the suspects.
Meanwhile, the wife of the diseased, Mrs Salome Heaven Ihuigwe and the member representing Obio/Akpor Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Michael Okechukwu Chinda, have urged the police to ensure justice for the late Ihuigwe.
Chindah, who was present at the scene of the parade said, “The death of Heaven was a very big shock to my constituency, Obio/Akpor Constituency 2. We felt very bad and his death would have resulted to massive destruction on properties as a result of rumours of persons that contributed to his murder.
“But I thank the Nigerian Police Force, particularly the IGP monitoring group for having made the effort of fishing out the accused persons. This arrest has brought to rest all these rumours of who killed Heaven Ihuigwe.”
Also speaking in tears, Wife of the victim said, “The death of my husband was a very big shock to me, because he left the house in the morning after five days of our twins dedication, they killed him innocently.
“As at then when the incident happened, I didn’t know where to stand. There were rumours coming from different angles as to who participated in his killing. But I thank God today the help of his brother Hon Francis Amadi and the IGP monitoring unit, they have put smiles on my face, as at then I could not bear the pains of loosing a husband who was not sick but was murdered in cool blood.”
Also paraded was one one Ngozi Egeonu, Roseline Okey and Rita Nwolu, who conspired to sell a two-month old baby of the later without the consent of the father.
The Police also paraded the duo of Obele Sunday Kaboloobari and Barineka Simeon Norue who are alleged to have kidnapped one Cynthia Amaka Obiorah, wife of De Obiorah of UPTH and her daughter, Angel Ifechukwu Obiorah. The Police also paraded the leader of a criminal gang said to be operaring along Elele-Omerelu, Anthony Nnamdi Omereji, a.k.a. Tompolo.
