Supplementary Polls: Kogi Lawmaker Cries Out Over Lack Of Information

Ahead of the conduct of supplementary elections in some parts of the country on Saturday, March 23, 2019, a member of Kogi House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Friday Sani has requested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release details of wards/polling units where the election would take place in Igalamela/Odolu State constituency.

 

Hon. Sani, who represents Igalamela/Odolu constituency on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state Assembly, lamented that details of the wards in his constituency where the supplementary election would be conducted were neither disclosed to him nor members of the public to enable him assign his agents to the designated venues.

 

The lawmaker further complained that the results from the previous poll conducted on March 9, 2019 in his constituency were put together without the use of Card Readers by INEC officials paving way to sundry irregularities.

He appealed to the commission to expedite action on his request to enable him put his records straight.

Also speaking on behalf of his client, Sani’s legal Adviser, J.S. Agada noted that the request of his client was made to avoid a situation where he will not be notified of the details of the supplementary polls.

 

“We will also need to request details of the wards in the Constituency where the intended supplementary polls will take place if not all the wards as it ought to be in order to enable our client prepare,” he said.
