The wave-rising fashion brand known as Rooomxix, formerly Rooom19 has come to carve a niche for itself in the fashion landscape of Nigeria, with many buying into its renaissance of creativity, art and culture.
Unveiled recently are the three brains behind the brand and they are all young men determined to make a difference in their own generation. They are Adeyefa Olugbenga Peter, founder of Rooom19 Fejiro Hanu Agbodje and Fortune Spurgeon. The three young men from different backgrounds and orientations bring different things to the table to mould Rooomxix into a maverick fashion brand it is fast becoming.
While the whole idea started with Adeyefa Olugbenga Peter, who founded Rooom19, the breathe of new life came the way of Fejiro Hanu Agbodje, Founder of Patricia Technologies who injected power into the structure and the creative soul was provided by Fortune Spurgeon who has emerged as the creative director of the brand.
It was reported that Patricia, Africa’s largest Bitcoin trading company, owned by Agbodje invested $1.5 million in Rooomxix, in order to facilitate its nationwide expansion.
Launched in 2018, Rooomxix sells streetwear largely priced between $50 to $100 and has been the beneficiary of a broader boom in Nigeria’s fashion industry in recent years.
According to Adeyefa who runs the brand, Roomxix has come to fulfill certain fashion needs and fill up a vacuum in the industry.
“As our company mission states , “To provide people with superior fashion choices, to inspire creativity and originality in their individual style through our compelling shopping experience. And to explain this vacuum Rooomxix is filling is to provide our target audience with top quality, globally curated products led by the latest trends at affordable prices where they don’t necessarily have to break the bank to look fly and drip and still stand out amongst their peers , and also have access to the same exotic shopping experience offered on a global scale,” Adeyefa said.
He explains further how the brand came to being.
“Rooomxix, formerly known as Rooom19 has been in existence since 2018 when a partnership agreement was signed between Gbenga Adeyefa and Fejiro Hanu Agbodje. The relationship between the two parties started off as a customer-seller relationship. After several purchases and discussion about the business and the possibilities of what the business can bring to Nigeria and the world at large, Fejiro decided to invest in the business and that was how Rooom19 began, along the years Rooom19 saw it needed a special creative to join the team to create and lead the brand in a pure creative approach given the fact that it’s a fashion brand . Fortune Spurgeon joined the team in 2019 and added his creative expertise to the business , and the first change made was changing the brand from Rooom19 to Rooomxix.”
