The emir of Zuru, Maj.Gen.Muhammadu Sani Sami , Gomo II , has said that the Uhola annual cultural festival of his emirate represents a veritable tool for promoting national cohesion, tourism and development of culture .
The royal father stated this during a press briefing in his palace at the weekend to unfold the activities lined up for the 2018 Uhola cultural festival scheduled to begin from 11-14 April, in Zuru.
According to the emir , the 2018 edition of the festival which will feature agricultural show will also include new events such as Ayu fishing, public lecture/book launch/royal merit award.
He said, “the festival is currently one of the leading cultural events attracting wide range of participation and interest from Kebbi and neighboring Sokoto ,Zamfara and Niger States as well as other parts of the country .
“It is aimed at promoting and preserving our unique heritage, development of cultural tourism and promotion of social cohesion among people of Kebbi and Nigeria at large”, he said.
“The Uhola festival is usually marked after harvest to show gratitude to God for bountiful harvest as well as protection against evil forces, disasters and wars”,the emir added.
The emir while commending the Kebbi state government for continued support to Uhola festival also appealed to the press,public and private sector including sons and daughters of the emirate to support and contribute towards the success of the event .
