Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has said that the state will continue to promote religious tolerance for peaceful coexistence.
This is as he stated that every Nigerian is empowered by the country’s constitution to practice the religion of his or her choice.
Wike spoke Thursday when the leadership of Eckankar Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Port Harcourt.
The governor stated that under his watch, nobody will discriminate against any religion as people have different ways to reach God.
He said, “Which ever way you think you can reach God, do so. Religion is an individual thing. Nobody would be discriminated against on the basis of his religion in Rivers State.”
Wike reiterated that he will never let the people of the state down, pointing out that he will always use their mandate judiciously.
Earlier, the leader of Eckankar Nigeria and Regional Eck Spiritual Aide (RESA), Ifeatu John Areh, said the governor will govern Rivers State till 2023 because of his achievements that have made the people happy.
Areh, who stated that Rivers State has experienced good governance under the leadership of Wike, urged him to sustain the development agenda.
He said Eckists are in Rivers State for their regional seminar with the theme: “The Road to God: The Adventure of a Lifetime “.
