For their commitment to women’s emancipation, empowerment and protection, the National leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola have been honoured in Osogbo, Osun State.

The duo were honoured at a massive gathering of women and APC supporters with the awards of Grand  Commander Worthy Leader of the Order of Niger (GCWLON) and Grand   Commander of the Oodua Kingdom (GCOOK)” respectfully by Osun Concerned Women Forum (OCWF) .

The coordinator, Alhaja Hauwa Folake Ahmed while presenting the award to Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Aregbesola said her group deemed it fit to honour the Jagaban of Borgu kingdom and his most trusted and loyal follower of school of thought, Ogbeni Aregbesola with awards based on their commitment to women’s cause.

According to her, the award was conferred on the beneficiaries because they distinguished themselves as vanguard of women emancipation.

Her words, “The presentation of awards to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, today is a celebration of achievement, a moment to recognise exemplary leadership of integration of democracy in our country, a day to appreciate kind gesture to see that women in the society occupy their God given place in society.”

The ONCWF Coordinator noted that the achievements of Tinubu was not only in the area of infrastructure but also in terms of human development capacity which has transcended from Lagos State to other South western part states as well as throughout the country.

Commending Governor Aregbesola for his laudable achievements in Osun within the space of seven years, Alhaja Ahmed said OCWF decided to honour the governor in “recognition and vote of confidence for your exemplary leadership skills and governance in the state”.

“We the Osun Concerned Women Forum salute your doggedness in managing the state as well as your leadership style. Your administration has put the interests of women in the party at heart and the state at large, this could be attested to in the composition of your cabinet both in first and second terms in office.

In his response, Senator Tinubu, who was represented by Osun state APC Secretary, Alhaji Rasaki Salisile  expressed gratitude for the honour.

He pledged to continue to bring women’s issues to the front burner and press for their due place in the polity, calling for more women to indicate interest in politics and governance of the nation.
