The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ekiti State Chapter, has vowed to embark on a mass protest at the main campus of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) on Monday, over allegations of abuse of office against the vice-chancellor, Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and General Secretary of the chapter, Comrades Segun Bankole and Silas Olawale respectively, the NYCN said its Ekiti office would be temporarily relocated to the FUOYE main campus to prosecute the protest until the demands of young people in the state are met.

The Youth Council said the planned protest followed the exhaustion of all official channels.

It noted that the Ekiti State Chapter had submitted a detailed petition to the Presidency, relevant ministries, and national anti-corruption and security agencies, exposing what it described as “corruption and moral decay threatening the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.”

In the statement, the NYCN insisted on the non-negotiable suspension of Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina as Vice-Chancellor and the removal of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) as Chairman of the Governing Council.

The council also demanded an independent investigation into all sexual abuse cases and the prosecution of offenders.

It further called for the suspension of the ongoing Vice-Chancellorship selection process, a forensic audit of FUOYE’s finances since 2021, and the restoration of lawful governance and protection for whistle-blowers.

“This peaceful protest is to show President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as Visitor to FUOYE, that Nigerian youth will not tolerate corruption, moral decay, or injustice in our institutions.

“We have waited long enough. The time for action is now. Effective Monday, 3rd November 2025, NYCN Ekiti will relocate its operational headquarters to FUOYE Main Campus.

“We will remain there in peaceful mass protest until our demands are met. We call on all Nigerian youth, students, and civil society groups to join us to end impunity and restore integrity in FUOYE.

“What we are fighting against are corruption and mismanagement; misuse of university funds, including wasteful council meetings in Abuja; fraudulent property deals worth $700 million; and a questionable N128 million ‘research leave’ payment to the vice-chancellor.

“Furthermore, we are demanding an end to sexual harassment and moral decay, including the cover-up of serious sexual abuse cases involving top officials and the protection of offenders such as Dr Agbegbedia and Dr Segun Larayetan,” the NYCN stated.
