Following his passion for youth development in nation building, a member of parliament representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jarigbe Agom, has constituted a new bursary committee to boost educational pursuit of students from the area.
This was made known in a statement signed by Hon Agom, where he said the new committee has been saddled with the assignment to ensure improvement on the scheme so students would benefit seamlessly.
According to him, students form an integral part of society and are leaders of tomorrow, therefore their role in nation building cannot be overemphasized, and should be given the desired attention to assist them achieve their dreams.
The statement reads in part: “Hon. Jarigbe Agom, member of parliament representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives has approved the constitution of a Bursary Committee for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency Students.
“To this end therefore, the following have been appointed as Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency Bursary Committee members; Barr.Leo Aggrey – Chairman; Mr.Isaac Okpokpo – Secretary; Mr.Hans Ori – Member; Mr.Gospel Agom – Member; Mr.Emma Anoh – Member; Mr.Timothy Okwoche (Obstacle) – Member; Mr.Oko saviour Ohonyeta, President (NAYLOGS) Worldwide – Member; and Mr.Abang Augustine Obeh, President (NAOS) Worldwide – Member.
“Their terms of reference include but not limited to identifying eligible and authentic students of Ogoja/Yala L.G.A.
“They have two weeks to conclude this assignment and report back for immediate disbursement to the beneficiaries.”
Hon Agom has been a political leader who believes in the dream of young people and has made effort to contribute to youth development in the area, which in his two years as House of Representatives member has distributed educational aids across the 24 wards of the constituency, construction of six classrooms block with VIP toilets in St. Michael’s Primary School, Ibil, Ogoja, facilitating youth employment in his constituents into federal agencies, skill acquisition training and empowerment programme for youths and women in constituency.
He was the strong voice that moved a motion on the floor of the Green Chamber, which was adopted to seek justice for the alleged murder of Ms. Joy Odama by an Abuja based Alhaji.
He has also ensured his people enjoy democratic dividends of infrastructural development, which include solar powered boreholes at Ishibori, Yache, Okuku, Idum- mbube and Ibil.
Others are rural electrification projects in Wanibolor, Wanihem, Ukelle, Mbube East, supply of electricity transformers to Ogoja/Yala Fed Constituency from federal agency.
He influenced construction of old Union Bank Road, Igoli-Ogoja as captured in the 2016 Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, budget, and many others.
He has effectively sponsored bills in the peoples’ interest and moved motions to better the lives of Ogoja/Yala constituents, and ensure Nigerians benefit from their mandate.
