An All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Ladaja, has pledged to empower the youth to enhance the country’s socio-economic and political development, if he wins the presidential election.
Briefing journalists in Abuja at the weekend, Alhaji Ibrahim expressed the view that youths are vehicles for sustainable development in Nigeria if they could be properly mobilized and used by God fearing leaders at both the local, state and national level.
The presidential aspirant also revealed that already, his own organization under Ladaja has successfully mobilized over 31 million youths to be used for effective development of the country in various areas.
Alhaji Ibrahim said, that if the youths of this country were properly guided and mobilized, as well as empowered financially, they could be vehicle through which Nigeria which is now in encountering several problems could once again regain its lost glory especially in the area of Agricultural production and other non-oil activities to become the true leader of the African continent, not just in the name but in a most practical way.
The youths, according to Alhaji Ibrahim, could be mobilized and be given interest free loan to start their various businesses which could help to reduce the present high level of youth unemployment and youth restiveness which is being witnessed in all parts of the country as reported almost every day by the media.
He revealed that for a start, his own organization has concluded necessary arrangement to empower 250 youths in all states and the FCT all over the country to start their own businesses in various fields of endeavor so that they could become not only independent but employers of labour.
He said, already the process of empowering this group of youth have been concluded and will soon take off all over Nigeria.
Ibrahim also told the journalist that, this was one of the strategies worked out by his organization to vigorously pursue the issue of youth empowerment so that they could be as effective and resourceful as their counterparts in the developed nations.
In line with his vision and mission for the youths, he said, he will encourage any laudable programme that will make and prepare our youth to be relevant and much more nationalistic in their approach to issues concerning the development of this country so that within a very short time, Nigeria could attain an appreciable level of development.
