After showing what they got at the local competition, Supreme Task Dance crew from Nigeria won the best prize in the Performance Category of this year’s K-Pop World Festival in Korea.
The event which took place in Korea had a total of 15 finalists from different countries, such as Nigeria, Nepal, Russia, Malaysia, Mexico, the United States, Vietnam, Sweden, Israel, Italy, India, Indonesia, Japan, China, and Hungary. 80 contesting teams from 65 different countries had earlier participated in the preliminaries.
Categorized into Performance and Vocal, Nigerian team beat contestants from China, Nepal, Sweden, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Hungary, Vietnam, and Indonesia in the Performance Category of the awards.
Whereas the rest five teams were in the Vocal category, a contestant from the Vocal category won the overall best winner of the competition.
This is the second year consecutively that the Nigerian team will be participating in the K-Pop World Festival in Korea. Last year, Pacific Stars team won the overall best team of the festival and became the first African team to do so in the six-year history of the festival.
Supreme Task performed a Korean song, ‘Fire’ by BTS in the presence of about 20,000 people.
By becoming the best team in the Performance Category, the Nigerian team won a prize of 7,000 USD. The event took place at Changwon Sports Park in Korea on September 30, 2016.
