The alleged misappropriation of N10 million, donated by Alhaji Umar Abdullahi-Tata, the 2015 Katsina State governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), has pitched him against his former political associate, Bishir Wada-Faskari at a Faskari Senior Magistrates’ Court.

The said amount, according to Abdulahi-Tata, was entrusted to the accused person as assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) sometime in March 2014 after suspected armed cattle rustlers raided communities in Faskari and Sabuwa local government areas of Katsina State but the politician allegedly converted it to his personal use.

Abdullahi-Tata, in a direct criminal complaint, filed by Abdullahi-Tata through his  counsel, Mr.Mas’udAlebelewe, told the court that the money he donated was meant to  assist children of the victims to cater for their Islamic and western education as dozens were killed or injured in the attack that left many people displaced.

The trial senior magistrate, Isah Ibrahim, heard that the accused person deprived the IDPs of the N10 million and all efforts to retrieve the money had failed.

When the case filed on August 10, 2016, was first mentioned on 11th August, Wada-Faskari pleaded not guilty of the criminal breach of trust and cheating charges leveled against him.
