Amid allegations of malnutrition in the camps of the internally displaced persons, the Arewa Youths Welfare Forum has demanded the sack of Chief Audu Ogbeh and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as minister and minister of state of Agriculture respectively.
The group accused the two ministers of insensitivity to the plight of the IDPs, while hunger reigns in the camps in the North East.
A statement by its coordinator, Mallam Usman Barde, on Sunday, said the call for the sack of the ministers became necessary owing to the silence of President Muhammadu Buhari over the allegations of impropriety leveled against them over diversion of grains.
”We are worried that President Muhammadu Buhari has kept quiet since the allegations of diversion of grains meant for the internally displaced persons in the IDPs camps broke out about three weeks ago. It is out of wickedness that Ogbeh could give out a contract to someone whom he knew did not have the capacity and in the process diverted over one hundred trailers. What of Lokpobiri who engaged in cornering grains to be sold out?
”We are convinced that while the minister, Ogbeh is seriously looking for ways to settle himself, while Lokpobiri is busy gathering money to prosecute political wars in his home state, Bayelsa. But we ask, at whose expense? It is clear that both ministers are feeding fat on the hungry that is in the North East,” he said.
