The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has embarked on two day sensitisation fair to create awareness about its activities with a view to explaining to people in Kebbi State opportunities available in the bank.
In his remarks at the occasion , Alhaji Aliyu Katuka from CBN Headquarters Abuja, said the main objective of the sensitization programme was to create awareness about CBN activities and the numerous opportunities for people to take advantage of.
According to him such initiatives were designed to revamp, reposition and re-engineer vital sectors of the economy to stimulate growth. Some of the initiatives he said included Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF), Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) , Cash-less policy , Mobile Banking among others.
He opined that the fair was planned to mobilize the low income but economically active people , especially women ,youths , entrepreneurs , farmers and financial service providers. It is for the stakeholders to come together , interact and create synergy towards enhancing access to finance , increase productivity , generate employment ,create wealth and engender sustainable growth.
The Wazirin Gwandu, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar who represented the Emir of Gwandu at the event , urged women in the state to fully take part in agricultural activities while taking advantage of CBN’s loan packages.
On his part , the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture , Alhaji Muhammadu Shehu commended CBN for supporting agricultural sector in the state. He said over 75, 000 farmers in the state benefitted from the CBN Anchor Borrowers Programme .
