Some aggrieved aspirants in the recently conducted All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries to get the party’s flag bearer for the Ondo State governorship election have alleged that the delegate list which was used to conduct the primaries was .manipulated’.
This is just as the party has said that it will not comment on the issues raised until the Appeal Committee which was set up to look into matters arising from the primaries submit its report as doing the contrary would jeopardize their work.
The chairman of the Appeals Committee, Mrs Helen Bendega however revealed that they have so far received three petitions from aggrieved aspirants even as she assured that the committee will discharge its assigned duty dispassionately.
One of the aspirant, Akinwale Akingbade quarried why some names that were not on the delegate list would even be in the venue in the first place, saying that the party would have to explain this situation.
Akingbade said: “There are some areas that the names of the people on the delegate list were not even delegates at all. The question is that how did you even get into the venue of the primaries when you were not on the list. How did you get accredited.
When asked who he thought was responsible for all these, he said, “It is the party that will now explain to us… How did it happen?”
Reacting to the allegations, the APC national organising secretary, Osita Isunazo said ” Nobody can react now. There is an appeal panel and party official would make statement on the primaries without the appeal concluding it’s work. Anything l say now can jeopardise the appeal work. Let the appeal finish their work then we can now talk. “
