The chairman Christian Association of Nigeria in 19 Northern states and the federal capital territory, Rev Yakubu Pam has tasked Muslim leaders and faithful from the Northern states to exhibit love, sacrifice and be their brothers keepers as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
Northern CAN chairman in a press statement issued in Jos yesterday and made available to news men, said Muslim leaders in the North with their Christian counter parts in the states of the North and FCT have one common task.
He added that they should use the occasion such as this to preach the message of love and peace to their followers in a bid to create conducive atmosphere in Northern state for peace, mutual respect for one another and to build a region devoid of crisis, killings and destruction of properties which the peace loving people of the North have laboured to work for over the years.
According to him, Northern states are blessed with natural resources that if tapped by the people of the zone and the government, would lead to development of the states of the North and other parts of the country, saying, the under-development in the North would soon be a thing of the past if all hands are put on deck to build the Northern states for the overall benefit of all.
He used the occasion to call on the religious extremists in the North especially Boko haram extremists in the North – East states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states respectively to lay down their arms and embrace peace so that the internally displaced persons from the region can return back to their homes that they have abandoned in recent years.
