A/Ibom Legal Practitioners Decries Media Attack on Ex-Governor Akpabio

Legal practioners under the aegis of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District have condemned the recent media attacks and numerous petitions against the Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The co-ordinator of the body, Barr Patrick Umoh who made the condemnation at a press conference in Abak  said, “We have observed with utter dismay recent publications by online media practitioners and on local tabloids against the personality of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“It is on this note that we wish to express strong condemnation on these publications as they are false and calculated to undermine the person of Senator Godswill Akpabio” .

Barr. Umoh also noted that Senator Akpabio has sacrificed tremendously for Akwa Ibom State, adding that some people only resorted to cheap blackmail in a very desperate attempt to gain cheap popularity.

The group therefore stressed that it would undertake take serious legal action against any person or group of persons that is attacking the image of Senator Akpabio.

“Consequently, the Akwa Ibom North- West Senatorial District Lawyers Coalition has resolved to raise defence of a man of honour whose identity as a lawyer remains unassailable.

On his part, Abak local Transition Committee chairman, Barr. Emmanuel Udosen said that the goodwill which Senator Godswill has brought to Akwa Ibom State cannot be bought with money as he is doing it for the sheer love of his people.

He therefore called on the people to rise in support of their hero, Senator Akpabio as he means well for his people.
