Police Arrests Suspected Armed Robbers, 3 Others In Delta

The police in Obiaruku, Ukwani Local Government Area of Delta State yesterday arrested three robbery suspects who allegedly robbed a motorbike rider of his motor bike with reg. No. NSK 828 QW, along old NEO road in the community.

Police image maker in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, in a press release made available to our reporter, confirmed that one Ozein Ifeakachukwu of Weteland Micro Finance Bank in Obiaruku reported at Police Division that three youngmen robbed her brother, Thephius Okoro of his Lefan Motorbike, adding that the police immediately swung into action and arrested the suspects after a gun battle.

The police image maker said that the suspects had pretended to be passengers going to a church along Utagba-Uno road where they allegedly attacked the bike owner, adding that upon the arrest of the suspects, one of them Sylvester Ojie (alias Nwabunwene Gbena) confessed to be the leader of the robbery gang.

She said that the items recovered by the police include: One AK 47 riffle, with breach No. 1969BH9744, one English automatic barreta pistol with breach No. 9518 with eight rounds of live ammunition, one locally made pistol with 12 rounds of live ammunition.

Meanwhile,  the police in Asaba had on Thursday arrested one Tochukwu Okafor while two others whose names were given as Clement Eddey and Ejiro escaped into the bush with bullet wounds after a long gun battle with the police.

The police image maker said that the suspected was arrested with a KIA Cerator with registration No. MUS472DN allegedly snatched from a victim in Lagos state.
