Foremost comedian Klint da Drunk (real names Afamefuna Igwemba) yesterday in Benin City called on all eligible voters in Edo State to turn out early on Wednesday next week and cast their votes for the PDP so that its governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu will be elected governor.
He was speaking at a campaign rally of the party led by the state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih , held at the Igun street, where the state branch of the Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association also endorsed Ize-Iyamu for governor.
He said, “Listen to me carefully,Edo People, be wise. When you come out to vote on Wednesday, put your hand on the umbrella so that this man Pastor Ize-Iyamu can become the governor and change the change”.
The comedian who has been on the campaign train of the PDP for days, said when Nigerians voted for change last year, they anticipated a genuine change in their living standards arguing that with the present state of affairs in the nation’s economy, the citizens are apprehensive about the future.
Also speaking at the well-attended rally, Dr Pedro Obaseki, a relative of the APC governorship candidate, said that Edo people cannot afford to vote for a governorship candidate who cannot speak the Benin language.
“We cannot afford to have a governorship candidate who cannot speak his mother tongue. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is not just contesting for governor, he is actually on a divine mission to deliver and rescue Edo State.”
