Freedom Of Information Key To Nigeria’s Advancement – Anosike

The Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Times newspaper, Mr Fidelis Anosike has disclosed that Nigeria cannot get it right amongst comity of nations, if it cannot promote the Freedom of Information Act.
Anosike who stated this yesterday in Abuja, during a press conference ahead of the newspaper’s 91st year of existence and its awards Daily Times Heroes Award for Outstanding Achievement 2017, also called for concerted effort for the promotion of ethical practices in the nation’s media industry.
The publisher also called on government and relevant stakeholders in the nation to cheer the nation’s media industry so as to spur them for national development.
He also stressed the need for media houses in the country to brazen up to the 21st challenges facing the media industry and act promptly.
According to him, ‘’We cannot get it right as a country if we don’t promote the freedom of information act and encourage media.’’
The event slated for  May 16, 2017 will kick off at 3 pm to 6 pm with an exhibition entitled: “Nigeria Through the Times,” and at 7 pm, the award event programme will begin.
The awardees include Gen Yakubu Gowon; former President Olusegun Obasanjo; former President Goodluck Jonathan; Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki; Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike; Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima; Sir. Lucky Omoluwa; Abike Dabiri Erewa; Mrs. Ibukun Awoshika; Mr. Tony Bidemi; Chris Ubosi; Nduka Albayinboya;  Pst. Paul Adeferati and Linda Ikeji.
