Niger Govt Vows To Fish Out Herdsmen Attacking Villagers

As Niger State is witnessing upsurge in herdsmen and villagers clashes, the state government has vowed to curtail the renewed attack on villagers by the herdsmen in the state .
The deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Ketso who visited Epogi Village where herdsmen killed 22 villagers at the weekend, stated that attacks of the herdsmen had become a national problem but noted that the state will do everything possible to end the trend.
He stated that security agents have been instructed to fish out those behind the dastardly act in Epogi Village in Gbara ward of Kede district of the state, adding that the fight will be taken to the killer herdsmen and those caught would be prosecuted.
While expressing government’s commitment to protecting lives and properties, he added that the government will not give room to miscreants to destroy the peace being enjoyed in the state and that the security agencies would be mobilized to tackle them.
He stated that the security agencies will be mobilized to take proactive measure to curtail future occurrences and announced some relief materials for the families of those who died in the attack.
Meanwhile a community leader in the troubled Epogi village in Mokwa local government area of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Taoheed Tahir, said the advent of dry season farming in Nigeria is largely responsible for the incessant herdsmen/ farmers clashes currently ravaging the country.
Tahir said this during the on the spot assessment of the damage done during the herdsmen invasion of the village.
