In bid to sustain and improve further on the security status of Imo State, the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, yesterday, introduced local government security council meeting.
Governor Okorocha made this pronouncement during the maiden expanded state security council meeting, held at Nicks banquet hall, government house, Owerri, Imo State.
The governor reiterated the need for consistent monthly security council meeting at the local government level. He therefore charged the council which was chaired by the deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere, to ensure they approach proposed strategies to critical analyses before adoption to ensure effective crime prevention.
In his opening address, Prince Madumere commended the security chiefs for their effort in ensuring that the state remains safe and secured. He asserted that Imo as a tourists’ destination, with its strategic location has continued to attract all shades of people among most of them, tourists, thereby emphasizing on Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s resolve to improve the security infrastructure in the state so as to maintain the peaceful and serene status of the state.
Prince Madumere said the meeting was a follow up to far reaching decisions made in the last security council meeting, which was held a fourth night ago where issues of community-based security approach was proposed and adopted.
