Police Parades 11 Suspected Kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Rescue 4 Victims

The Nigeria Police Force, Wednesday, paraded 11 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, who have been terrorising residents and travellers around Birnin Gwari – Funtua, Birnin Gwari – Kaduna and Kaduna – Kano highways.

The suspects, Hassan Ibrahim, 40 years – Gang Leader (A brand new AK47 Rifle was recovered from him); Lukman Jubrin, 24 years old; Yahaya Saibu, 25 years old; Victor Abila, 28 years old; Ikita Umar, 28 years old; Abdullahi Haruna, 25 years old; Usman Marafa, 31 years old.

Others are Bello Abdullahi, 29 years old (One AK47 Rifle was recovered from him and another one from his gang); Abdulmumun Alhaji, 27 years old, Bala Mohammed, 30 years; and Abubakar Mohammed, with no specified age.

Other exhibit recovered from them are three Ak47 Rifles, 72 round of AK 47 ammunition three locally made Guns, Cutlasses, Charms and Sticks.

According to the Force PRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood, while parading the suspects, said “the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris extended last month the mandate and Area of Responsibilities of Operations Absolute Sanity to cover Birnin Gwari – Funtua, Birnin Gwari – Kaduna and Kaduna – Kano Highways to respond to the recent occurrence of cases of kidnapping and armed robbery on the mentioned roads.

“Consequently, the above mentioned suspects were arrested in the act during an operation that lasted several hours in the identified kidnap dens, camps and hideouts along Birnin Gwari – Funtua, Birnin Gwari – Kaduna and Kaduna – Kano Highways.

“The suspects arrested during interrogation confessed to the crimes and admitted to have carried out several kidnappings/armed robberies attacks on innocent travelers on Birnin Gwari – Funtua and Birnin Gwari -Kaduna and Kaduna – Kano roads in recent times.”

The Police spokesperson further noted that four victims comprising three men and a woman were rescued from them alive and unhurt during the operation without payment of ransom.

They will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.‎
