BY ISAIAH BENJAMIN, Kaduna –

Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed sadness over the unfortunate attack on innocent villagers holding a Christmas carol at Nindem village in Jema’a local Government area of Kaduna State.

It would be recalled that the attack was carried out by gunmen killing four persons and injured many.

According to the forum in a statement issued by its national Publicity secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim Biu and made available to newsmen, “The dastardly act by the gunmen was wicked, barbaric and condemnable especially in this festive season of peace and stability.

“ACF calls upon the security agencies to be on the trail of these criminals and ensure that they are arrested and brought to justice. We equally appeal to the Security agencies to provide adequate security especially to worshippers and their places of worship during the Christmas and also play grounds and parks.

“Security personnel should not only be deployed to strategic venues but also screen suspected persons and maintain surveillance to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.

“ACF extends its condolences to the families that lost their loved ones, the Jema’a Local Government Council and the Government and good people of Kaduna State over this unfortunate incident.”

“It is important to note that peaceful existence is the requisite for any meaningful socioeconomic development, and that violent killings can never address any perceived grievances.Only due process of law and dialogue can address any concern. Communities should therefore avail themselves to existing democratic means of solving problems instead of resorting to violent acts that are never helpful”.
