Herdsmen Activities: Gov Umahi To Meet Leadership Monday

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi has expressed worry over the activities of herdsmen in the state and called for a meeting between the leadership of the herdsmen and the state government.

Governor Umahi regretted that just recently, while on his way for an official function the herdsmen blocked his convoy in Umunaga Uburu in Ohaozara Local government area of the state while there has been several reports of the herdsmen destroying rice farms in the state.

He stated the after the meeting on Monday, the State government would commence the registration of herdsmen to ascertain those migrating to the state and those residing in the state with a stern warning that the state would not tolerate further destruction of farms and other properties of the citizens of the state.

He state that the State Executive Council has approved the release of N29m for Ebonyi people who are in displaced camps in Taraba and Benue state adding that the money would be used to alleviate their suffering.

Governor Umahi who stated this during the State first Executive Council meeting urged members of the state Executive Council to brace up to the challenges of thw year adding that anyone who fails to meet up with the programs and polices f his administration would not be speared.

He Commended the President, Mohammadu Buhari and security agencies for the killing of perpetrators of January 1st killing in Rivers state and urged the security agencies to fish out the remaining members of the notorious gang.
