As part of efforts towards educational development particularly science education in Nigeria which is the main thrust of its corporate social responsibility, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant noodles has donated a full science laboratory equipment to Iganmode Grammar School, Ota, Ogun State. The donation of the complete set of laboratory equipment which took place at the premises of the School in the industrial hub of Ogun State on was witnessed by students, parents, teachers and some members of the community.
While presenting the equipment to the school on behalf of the managing director/CEO, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Deepak Singhal, the group public relations and events manager, Mr. Tope Asiwaju, disclosed that the gesture by the company is to complement the efforts of the government in providing necessary educational tools to enhance learning especially in the area of science and technical education.
He urged the teachers, to ensure full utilise of the laboratory equipment effectively to teach and improve upon the performance of the students in science subjects especially in their West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASCE) and the National Examination Council (NECO) exams. Asiwaju further revealed that the company will also look at other social investment opportunities that the community can reap real benefits from.
Responding on behalf of the parents, chairman of The Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Iganmode Grammar School, Mayor Hakeem Amodu, expressed the profound appreciation of the community to Dufil Prima Foods for the donation while urging parents to ensure they groom their children well to take full advantage of the science laboratory equipment for their advancement and to ensure that Ota as a community produces more graduate students in sciences as it is a sure way they can be successful and bring glory to Ota.
He pointed out that the students and the parents should be grateful to Indomie for the equipment which he described as very sophisticated noting that this is the first time Iganmode Grammar School will have this kind of complete set of laboratory equipment. “Indeed, Iganmode High school is very lucky because with this donation as the school laboratory will be next to none in whole of the Ota zone,” he said.
