CBN Gov Bags Awards



The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the weekend bagged two awards from The Sun Publishing Limited and Silverbird Communications for the role he played in the economic growth of the country.

The CBN governor had been awarded The Sun 2017 Public Service award and had also received the Silverbird Man of the Year Special Achievement Award. Speaking on the award, the managing director and editor-in-chief of the Sun Publishing Limited, Mr. Eric Osagie, said it was in recognition of current policies championed by Emefiele aimed at strengthening the country’s economy.

Osagie , who listed Emefiele’s policies to include various interventionist programmes geared towards poverty eradication and which have continued to engender sustainability and restoration in the Nigerian economy, noted that under Emefiele’s watch, the country had witnessed a massive drop in the volume of rice importation and an upscale in rice self-sufficiency, leading to relaxed pressure on foreign exchange.

Presenting the award to Emefiele at a ceremony held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, the governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, lauded the efforts of the CBN governor and his team for stabilizing the economy and moving the economy forward.

In his brief acceptance remarks, the CBN governor appreciated the awards, dedicating it to the staff of the bank. He noted that the CBN had the best crop of personnel capable of competing with those at other Central Banks from any part of the world.
